Testing Process of Gasket Compression and Resilience


Compressibility and resilience are respectively represented by compression ratio and resilience ratio. Let's take a look at the testing process of gasket compression and resilience.

Several basic parameters need to be clarified before the test: The nominal thickness of the gasket is t?, but the actual thickness has deviations. When conducting the compression ratio and resilience ratio test, the test starts with the "initial load". First, apply the initial load F? or initial stress σ?, and the compressed thickness of the gasket at this time is δ?, with the initial thickness recorded as T?.

Step 1

The test is divided into three steps: The first step is loading. Apply the test load Fc (or test stress σc) at the loading rate specified in the corresponding standard. At this time, the gasket thickness becomes Tc, and record the thickness change in this stage.

Step 2

The second step is load holding. Maintain the test load for a period of time to ensure stable deformation.


Step 3 

The third step is unloading. Unload to the initial load F? at the specified rate, and the rebounded thickness of the gasket at this time is recorded as Tr.
